As a part of the Brent Safeguarding Children Forum, ' Serious Youth Violence' agenda, this session is focusing on:

Gang affiliation, criminality, vulnerability and safeguarding. 

This course will examine some of the challenges and safeguarding issues affecting young people involved in gang affiliation, including social,cultural, gender and psychological factors.

It will also explore which young people are at risk, signs and indicators of exploitation,impact of trauma and adverse life experiences ,peer influence which influences decisions around  organised criminal and gang activity.

Using a holistic THRIVE model, the course will also explore wider contextual factors, such as triggers, risk factors, vulnerabilities and barriers to change affecting young people involved in gang activity.

It will also explore the local referral and safeguarding procedures, multi-agency approaches and interventions to engage with young people affected by gang affiliation to improve safety, life opportunities, mental health and wellbeing.
