Detail:

This is for all professionals, volunteers and safeguarding leads who work with young people or adults, especially if you work with any vulnerable cohorts - reports have informed us that they may present a higher risk of radicalisation, seen across different demographic groups.

This training by a Prevent team member will provide you with awareness and an understanding to identify and then support and signpost those at risk of radicalisation. This session will include an overview of the Prevent programme, recent threats and real case studies which show the journey from radicalisation to extremism and the resources required to support the individual.

You will better understand Prevent and be more confident in identifying and responding to a Prevent concern.

Prevent Description:

The Prevent team are dedicated to ensuring that our communities and families are not exploited or groomed into following a path of violent extremism. Prevent is all about safeguarding and supporting those across demographic  groups who are vulnerable to radicalisation, to stop them from becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism. The government introduced the Prevent statutory duty through the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015. The duty requires local authorities with other professional organisations to consider the need to safeguard people from being drawn into terrorism.
