This course is suitable for all professionals and volunteers and will support you to identify and support for both adult and young carers living in Brent. Far too many undertake this role with no support or respite. identifying people is the first step, and safeguarding them is an important aspect as well as providing and signposting to support and services.

Unpaid carers (both adults and children) provide support to someone who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support.  Many people go through life unaware that they are a Carer, often without accessing support services.

Learning Outcomes. By the end of this training participants will:

  • Be able to identify a Carer
  • Understand the impact of being a Carer
  • Understand why people have to care for someone
  • Know what support is available for Carers
  • Know how to make a referral to the Brent Carers Centre.
