Detail:

A 1 day programme focusing on the importance of working with fathers of children caught up in parental conflict. 

Aims

This 1-day programme will empower practitioners to engage more confidently with fathers to recognise the signs of both parental conflict and domestic abuse and to acknowledge the harm caused to their children. By attending this workshop, practitioners will overcome their own fears   and support fathers to make positive changes to safeguard their children by:

Objectives

  • Unpicking the complexities of relationships and the language and judgements around this – e.g. men as perpetrators/women as victims
  • Supporting fathers to understand how unresolved trauma and ACE’s informs current behaviours
  • Empowering practitioners to explore their own beliefs
  • Linking thoughts and feelings to behaviour 
  • Promoting effective communication between fathers and their children
  • Encouraging empathic responses to their child
