Summary
This half-day workshop will help delegates to understand:
- The different types of Neglect
- How to recognise signs and risk factors associated with neglect
- Understand risk management and the challenges of balancing risk
- How to identify protective factors
- Support and intervention available
Who Should Attend?
This course is suitable for all staff & volunteers who work with or support children, young peopleĀ and families in Brent.
Learning Outcomes
After completing this module, learners will be able to:
- Be informed of relevant research on neglect
- Consider the complexity of the definition of neglect
- Understand how to recognise neglect in relation to child development and /or special needs
- Make a distinction between indicators and risk/protective factors
- Recognise the importance of early recognition and intervention
- Consider the importance of chronologies to help understand the cumulative impact of neglect and to measure the impact of interventions
- Consider how to assess neglect by planning child-centred interventions and measuring child-centred outcomes
