This course is delivered by the Brent LADO (Local Authority Designated Officer), who is responsible for managing allegations against adults who work with children. Allegations are a very serious matter, and the LADO will equip participants and their organsiations to manage allegations if made against staff/volunteers working with children and young people in Brent. 

 Who Should Attend?

This course is suitable for designated staff/volunteers who have a responsibility to manage allegations made against staff & volunteers.

Learning Outcomes

This course aims to ensure:

  • Employers are aware of current procedures and how they should be used
  • Designated/Lead Child Protection Staff are aware of appropriate legislation and how to respond
  • The role & responsibilities of the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) are understood
  • The decision making and consultation process around allegations against staff is understood
  • Designated professionals have an understanding of the process and purpose of strategy meetings and individual roles and responsibilities 
  • Designated professionals understand when a referral should be made to the LADO and how to do so
  • Policies, procedures and practice are designed to help prevent allegations
