Financial fraud and scams are on the increase and ever more sophisticated and varied. Anyone can become a victim, but some people are more susceptable than others, and help can be missed for fear of embarrassment or by having become complicit through loneliness and other vulnerabilities. More people are falling victim to scams, losing anything from small sums to their life savings or even incurring debt to pay the fraudsters.
Come and hear from the Metropolitan Police's Fraud and Digital Asset Crime Prevention Team to better understand the ever-changing face of fraud and how to safeguard people, especially those who are more vulnerable to such scams. This session will:
- Increase your understanding and awareness of the diverse range of financial fraud and scams
- Help you understand the vulnerabilities assoviated with victims of these schemes
- Provide insight into how to identfy these
- Provide insight inot how to identify and be aware of potential victims - who may not know they are a victim or who do not want to tell people thatthey are
- Outline the reporting processes
- Highlight the support and referrals possible
- Help you understand how to speak with people who are at risk or are caught up in a scam and how to reduce this risk through safeguarding against future scams
